Born on August 19, 1965 , Kyra Sedgwick is from New York City. Her wealthy parents are Patricia Rosenwald and Henry Dwight Sedgwick V. Her mother was a speech teacher and a family therapist while her father was a venture capitalist. Her father’s proud descent included Judge Theodore Sedgwick, Endicott Peabody (the founder of the Groton School), William Ellery (a signer of the Declaration of Independence), and the Reverend John Lathrop.
An artist by blood, Kyra Sedgwick is a descendant of artists as she is the first cousin of actress Edie Sedgwick, a niece of the writer John Sedgwick, a sister of actor Robert Sedgwick, and half-sister of jazz guitarist Mike Stern. She graduated from private schools and finished a degree in theater arts at the University of Southern California.
